Shreya Soni
Shreya is currently a senior and began her classical dance journey at the age of seven with Kuchipudi under the guidance of Smt. Babita Marala and later Smt. Satyavani Akula. At eleven, she transitioned to Bharatanatyam and has been training under her guru, Smt. Parvatha Chidambaram, for the past seven years in Rochester, New York. Over time, Bharatanatyam has become an anchor in Shreya’s life, shaping not just how she moves, but how she thinks, reflects, and connects with the world around her. Through many performances and countless trips to Rochester, it has become deeply meaningful to her, and she is grateful to have been given a lasting connection to Hindu spirituality and her cultural heritage. Outside of Bharatanatyam, Shreya has been dancing ballet since the age of four, volunteers at her local library every Saturday, and is deeply passionate about medicine. She plans to study neuroscience and pursue pre-medical studies in college with the goal of becoming a physician. Shreya is deeply grateful for the guidance of her guru and the support of her family, and looks forward to carrying Bharatanatyam with her into college and beyond.
